Event Summary

Welsh workplaces are rich with talent from diverse backgrounds. But what are the next steps for employers to ensure fair, equal opportunities and truly equitable treatment at work?

With renewed focus on gender equality, anti-racism, LGBTQ+ inclusion, age diversity, and disability rights across Wales, Policy Insight Wales’s timely Workplace Equality Wales Conference will offer practical guidance to help you build fairer, more equitable organisations.

We will explore workplace equality in a changing policy landscape – including what the latest legislative developments mean for your organisation:

  • The Welsh Government’s Anti-Racist Wales Action Plan, the LGBTQ Action Plan, and the National Equality Objectives (2024–28) are driving forward the inclusion agenda in Wales.
  • The Employment Rights Bill will strengthen laws on discrimination, harassment, equal pay, and workplace rights. It will introduce Equality Action Plans, new pay gap reporting, extended family-friendly and flexible-working rights, and enhanced protections for pregnancy and maternity.
  • The Draft Disabled People’s Rights Plan calls for a social model of disability. This marks an important distinction between ‘impairment’ and ‘disability’ – with a focus on removing structural barriers to work.
  • The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is preparing updated gender guidance for employers, primarily to clarify the legal definition of sex under the Equality Act 2010 and how should be interpreted in practical workplace scenarios.

Hear from policymakers, public service providers, business leaders, and speakers with lived experience. Sessions will explore policy and training, pay gap reporting, data collection and monitoring, inclusive recruitment and progression, and leadership engagement. You will also gain practical guidance on updating workplace policies and training in light of recent changes to employment law.

Through a series of workshops, our expert speakers will spotlight age discrimination, menopause action plans, neuro-inclusion, and disability equality at work.

Don’t miss the chance to connect with colleagues from across Wales, share ideas and take away practical actions to deliver equal opportunities in your workplace.
